Syncovery Pinned Post
THIS IS THE OLD PROCESS BEFORE WE LAUNCHED THE COPILOT PROGRAM FOR REFERENCE ONLY, THIS IS NOT THE CURRENT UPDATE PROCESS FOR THAT PLEASE SEE THIS LINK

*** Close joy2key and any other program related to the arcade drive before updating *** this will avoid errors in syncovery saying it couldn't sync some files (because they were open and being used)
After following the install process on your drive it will walk you through putting the Syncovery program in place. Once you have the Syncovery folder in your "root" folder (the main D: drive folder) you then copy the .ini file Chris sent you in an email which is going to be a copy of your profile. This will allow Syncovery to run and detect the right setup to sync your drive with.
The first thing you should see when you open the Syncovery program after install (with your correct profile) is a screen like this:
If you have a screen that contains more items than the screenshot (currently a maximum of 3 items for 16TB drive users and 2 items for any other setup) then you have accidentally been given an uploading profile.
An uploading profile will only send files to the main server everyone uses (1 server for original 8tb and 1 server for 8tb+) this will cause your old files to overwrite the new files that have been updated on the server and everyone else will download them which causes a lot of malfunctions on everyone's arcade drives. If you ever suspect that you have accidentally received an uploading profile please contact an admin right away to arrange a replacement from Chris and absolutely Do Not Run Syncovery.
If your profile looks correct all you have to do is right click and choose "run in attended mode" this will open a screen that shows an overview of how many files are to be deleted, moved or synced over from the server. Then you simply proceed to allow syncovery to start.
When the operation is complete it will give you a summary and notify you if any errors occurred. Then you close the program and your drive is up to date! Simple.

The only place to get profiles right now is to fill out the link to get the profile and request it in there. There's a link to the form you need to fill out in the "forum rules" section under "important links" post.
When Chris has your email, he will check it against his paypal receipts and confirm ownership, and then email it to you when he updates. You can request the two drive forums.
Please do NOT msg or email Chris; it slows him down when he gets 100 requests like this a week. Just fill out the form and request it there, and you'll get an email soon.

The proper way is with the copilot program. But there are problems with the copilot program.

To run the current process you need to download the files linked in the facebook group, which is why I asked you to read through those posts. James put the process on the facebook group also. Facebook exists for announcements from Admins, not for support. The forums here are for support. Have you followed the instructions so far on downloading the files from the facebook group and running the new copilot program? This process is working for many people but some are also having issues.
Aside from that Chris currently has the server taken down which you can see updates on under the "drive updates" section of the forum. Until the server is back up no one will be able to run an update. All of the information has already been posted to facebook or stickied here on the forum as far as how you "run the new process" if that is the step you are on please ready through that part first then come back for support. Please let us know what stage of the process you are on.

Chris posted this today:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1722715527986759/permalink/2000659380192371/
Please read all of it and the comments from James below. Follow that process and if you still have issues after completing all of it (you probably won't) go to Chris's support thread after that.

Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
Right click recycle bin and pick "properties"
Then select this setting (I thought this was already part of the install process) also untick the "delete confirmation dialoge" if you just want things to completely delete without telling you.

Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
I believe this is the password that Chris distributes on Facebook now. Try that and if not let me know.
Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
I followed the directions on facebook, that alllow me to download the "unpack to Root.7Z" file to my computer. I unzipped the folder and extracted it to the root of my D Drive. Then per the video instructions. I click on Syncovery-Update Installer.exe it opens and gives me some prompts. It requested the password with works, Then it detects my 5TB drive, but it gets stuck at downloading the " ini" file. I don't have any Anti-Virus running and no firewall enable. How do I get past this point. How do I get the ini file in the Syncovery folder? Can someone send it to me?
Thank you for you help.

u/"Mark Small" double check how you unpacked to root. Go to your folder D:\Arcade Is there a folder in there called Arcade?
IE D:\Arcade\Arcade
If you have this, it means you extracted to D:\Arcade instead of root; it's been happening to a lot of people. Just drag the 2nd Arcade folder (D:\Arcade\Arcade) into the first; then try again.
Also, is your drive not letter D:\? Is there something custom about your setup? Did you not fully install the drive before updating?
All of those could also be issues. That error message is because it can't find certain files, so something is in the wrong place.

Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
Thank you James for your quick reply.. I understand.. Now that's I extracted the entire 7z file to the root drive. Base on the video when I click on the tool and bam
I'm still getting the ini error message. I've have done the 7z extraction several times with no errors.
Here is a screenshot of my root drive for my setup. I have a 5TB setup from a year ago. I have not moved anything around except I added some bezels to my mame games. I don't know iff that matters. Yes.. My Drive letter is the D Drive. I'm running Windows 7

Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
Chris currently has the password changed per the updates on Facebook. You will need to wait for an announcement letting us know it is back up.
Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
Yep, that's not right, you were close. That folder "Unpack to root" you're not supposed to unpack the folder itself, that's why it's not working. You're supposed to unpack everything INSIDE that folder to root.
Go into D:\Unpack to root_
Ctrl+A to select all files and folders inside that folder
Ctrl+X to cut files and save them to clipboard/memory
Go into D:\
Ctrl+V to paste all the files
Wait for that to finish (might take up to a minute), then delete empty folder D:\Unpack to root_
NOW run the files. It'll work, because you unpacked the packing folder to root and not the stuff INSIDE the packing folder to root. That was the issue!
**** BUT The update process will NOT update until Chris posts on Facebook that servers are up, and a new password ***
So, do the steps above but then wait until server is up, then try to update again. You'll be good.
Snycovery very very slow deleting
Thank everyone for your help. After I did the second update. Everything is working fine., I'm in the slow deleting stage now.
update:
I have noticed the update is taking a very usually time to delete files. I notice the backup program Snycovery have a red message "Recycle bin delay: 76479 sec". Is this normal? is there a way to speed up the process?
Thank you
Mark

Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
That is not normal. Not sure what that is.
SNYCOVERY VERY VERY SLOW DELETING
Ok.. I believe I figured out my issue. The SYNCOVERY software was moving the deleted files into the recycle bin., But it was not deleting them immediately. My recycle bin had over 208GBs of files. It caused my CPU to run extremely slow. I could not even open a folder or even empty the bin. I restarted the computer two times, the first time I immediately opened the recycle bin, this caused the CPU to shoot to a 100%. The second time I rebooted the machine. I immediately ran this command rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin. It took about 45 mins empty that folder.
For folks that might run into this issue. If you right click on the recycle bin. --> Properties --> make sure Don't move files to Recycle bin. Remove files immediately when deleted is selected.
I hope this helps others.

Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
You are correct Mark this is supposed to be set that way, our setup used to do that perhaps we need to see if that is somehow not the case now. You will run out of space if you don't have the files set to delete immediately.

Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
The server is DOWN so you cannot sync right now. Chris posted that this morning to Facebook. Please look there for when the server is back up.
Re: Pinned Post #3: How to Update Your Drive (What is/How use SYNCOVERY?)
How did you even find and then send a question in this tread? It says this is OLD version, and we are using new version.
